Edmund Barwuah

Edmund Barwuah has a wealth of experience in Telecoms, Fintech and large retail product distribution and management across Africa and most recently in Asia. He is currently the Director of FinTech at Ooredoo Myanmar Limited, a leading Mobile Network Operator in Southeast Asia.

He has also served as General Manager for MTN Zambia in charge of mobile financial services where he oversaw a transformational agenda that placed MTN as the market leader by doubling customer base over a period of two years in the Southern African country. As Director of Mobile Financial Services for AirtelTigo in Ghana, Edmund oversaw the integration of large platforms, products, and team integrations after a merger.

As the head of Airtel Mobile Commerce in Ghana, his high commercial acumen was put to the test when he led the team to navigate hurdles to prove the commercial viability of the mobile money business in that entity.

He is excited about the future of FinTechs and the opportunity it presents as a key driver of economic growth especially in developing countries. For this reason, he has initiated and led several MNO-FinTech-bank integrations and co-management of products in both Africa and Asia.

Edmund holds an MBA in Marketing from the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration and BSC Agricultural Technology from the University of Development Studies. Edmund is married with three kids and enjoys spending quality time with his young family when they are around.
